For Those About To Rock MLB Post-Season Games, TBS, AC/DC Salute You

By Barry Janoff

September 24, 2014: There will be plenty of hits from MLB teams when the post-season begins on Sept. 30, but the group with the biggest hits might be from a team not on the playing field.

As it prepares to broadcast the American League playoffs,Turner Sports has signed a deal to use in marketing the song "Play Ball," a new track from the soon-to-be released album from AC/DC, Rock or Bust.

The song will be featured in promo spots to air on TBS and other outlets within the Turner portfolio.

The initial spot breaks this week on social media and on-air this weekend in conjunction with TBS' exclusive coverage of the MLB Wild Card Game Presented by Budweiser on Sept. 30. It shows clips of playoff-bound teams in action played out to "Play Ball." (See it here.)

The song will then be used to tout TBS' coverage of the American League Divisional Series (beginning Oct. 2) and the AL Championship Series (date TBD).

The effort also precedes the release by Columbia Records the release of Rock or Bust, scheduled for Dec. 2, which is being called AC/DC's first studio album in six years (Black Ice in 2008). In addition to "Play Ball" there are 10 other new tracks.

Rock or Bust will be the first AC/DC album in the band's 41 year history without founding member Malcolm Young on the recordings. Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to an undisclosed illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band. The band now says that due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band.

AC/DC will play a world tour in support of Rock or Bust in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on Rock or Bust and will accompany the band on tour.
