New adidas Commercial Shows Derrick Rose Back On The NBA Comeback Trail

By Barry Janoff

August 16, 2012: When Derrick Rose suffered a torn left ACL in Game 1 of the first-round 2012 playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, it ended his season and his opportunity to win a gold medal with the USA men's basketball team.

Rose had surgery on May 12, with doctors estimating between 8-12 months before he could reclaim his spot with the Bulls. He appeared in just 27 games during the 2011-12 lockout-shortened season due to other injuries.

But the NBA's 2010-11 MVP has been hitting the training and weight rooms en route to his comeback. All of which has been documented in a new TV commercial from adidas.

In the one minute spot, the Chicago Bulls' point guard is seen injuring himself and being carried off the court. He then is seen in extensive and strenuous workouts, silently played out as text hits the screen.

"D-Rose has redefined the game since entering the league. What's inside him, can't be stopped. From his belief, hope, focus, push and drive, he is all in for #TheReturn. Join this episodic journey documenting his inevitable return to the game. D Rose will rise. Join him."

The only voice comes at the very end of the spot when D-Rose himself states, "I'm all in." (See the full spot here.)

The spot directs viewers to support and follow Rose via dedicated sites at Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well Rose's and adidas' home pages.

"Thank-you for all the love and support," Rose posted on his Twitter account. "I feel blessed to have such great fans. Good to be back in Chicago after training all summer in [Los Angeles]."
