Photo: PRNewswireFeb. 11, 2009: While other marketers may be "ducking" their broadcast strategies, Aflac is putting its iconic duck in a pair of humorous TV spots that will air during the Daytona 500 on Fox on Feb. 15. "Monster Tires" and "Joyride," from The Kaplan Thaler Group, will pair the spokesduck with driver Carl Edwards to support Aflac's the first of its three-year alliance as primary sponsor of Edwards and the No. 99 Ford Fusion. The media buy also includes ABC, CBS, NBC, A&E, CNBC and Discovery. In "Monster Tires," the duck pumps up the tires on the No. 99 car to monstrous proportions. Edwards at first is confused, but soon gets the message as the pair easily maneuverover cars on traffic-filled streets thanks to the oversized tires. In "Joyride" Edwards discovers that his car is missing, but soon realizes that the duck has taken it on a joyride with a blond, human female companion. "These latest commercials are another example of Aflac's commitment to the sport of NASCAR, Roush Racing and our driver Carl Edwards," Paul Amos, COO of Aflac, said in a statement. "It seems Carl and the Aflac Duck have formed a special bond together which we hope will excite fans and lead to a successful 2009 season." Back To Home Page
