AutoZone Execs, Employees Get The Bull At Exclusive PBR BlueDef Tour Stop

September 27, 2016: When the Professional Bull Riders BlueDef Tour Presented by Real Time Pain Relief hits Memphis tonight, FedEx Forum will be filled with cowboys, 2,000 lb. bulls and some 19,000 AutoZoners.

To celebrate AutoZone’s alliance with PBR, the AutoZone Challenge is being held exclusively for executive and team members — aka AutoZoners — although still an official stop for PBR’s premier expansion tour, with points gained in the competition counting towards the BlueDef Tour Championship.

Tickets did not go on sale to the general public, with the stop being billed as a private event.

“Bringing AutoZone a world-class sporting event — exclusive to their guests yet part of actual PBR world qualification — is one of the most unique things our sport has ever done,” Sean Gleason, PBR CEO, said in a statement.

“We can produce the AutoZone PBR Challenge because PBR is nimble and flexible to the needs of our partners. We’re delighted to produce a full scale event for a private audience which is not merely an exhibition but part of the competitive structure of our sport.”

Tour marketing partners also include Old World Industries BlueDEF and Peak Antifreeze Brands, Pendleton Whisky, South Point Hotel and Casino, the U.S. Border Patrol and American Legacy FireArms.

Memphis will be the 22nd stop on the 2016 BlueDEF Tour, which features emerging bull riding talent alongside the some of the superstars of the sport.

The BlueDEF Tour Finals are scheduled for Las Vegas on during PBR World Finals week (beginning Oct. 29) and will offer a total purse of $100,000.

According to Lani Glancy, director of diversity and talent management for AutoZone, “At AutoZone we strive to provide our customers with a WOW! experience when they visit our stores, call on the phone or visit us on-line. For our AutoZoners, the PBR AutoZone Challenge will deliver a unique and WOW! experience during our national sales meeting.”
