December 16, 2013: New York will be a busy sports place in the week prior to and then the weekend of Super Bowl XLVIII this February.
The NHL already has two outdoor games in place planned for Yankee Stadium, which will feature all three local teams: The Rangers, Islanders and New Jersey Devils.
Now, Barclays Center is getting into the mix. The home venue for the NBA's Nets will host a "Kickoff In Brooklyn," which will see three consecutive nights of events from Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
Super Bowl XLVIII is scheduled to be played on Feb. 2 in MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Giants and Jets.
Two former welterweight champions, ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz and Luis Collazo, will open the festivities on Jan. 30 when they meetfor the WBA International Welterweight title. In the ten-round co-main event, Eddie ‘E-Boy’ Gomez will meet Daquan ‘King’ Arnett in a clash of unbeaten junior middleweight.
The next night, the middleweight Nets will host NBA heavyweights Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

On Feb. 1, radio station WFAN will hold its "Big Hello to Brooklyn" concert, with headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as New Politics, MS MR, J. Roddy Walston & The Business and Basic Vacation.
