Bauer Power: Company Claims NHL Title Prior To Kings-Devils Stanley Cup Final

June 6, 2012: The Los Angeles Kings are on the brink of winning the Stanley Cup, with a three-games to none advantage over the New Jersey Devils.

But the real brand winner could be Bauer Hockey.

Bauer Hockey claimed the title of having the most skates, helmets, gloves and pants worn by players, and the sticks most used by players in the regular NHL season and Stanley Cup Finals.

According to the  Exeter, NH-based company, 35 of the 37 players the Kings and Devils who have appeared in the Finals "use at least one piece of Bauer equipment, including all 19 of the Kings who have suited up for at least one game."

Some 86% of all skaters (32 of 37) in the Finals wear Bauer skates, far outdistancing Reebok (8%), and 46% of all players use Bauer sticks, with Easton second (32%).

Bauer also has the top helmet (51%), glove (46%) and pants (57%) used in the Finals, per the company.

The Kings will be seeking their first NHL Stanley Cup tonight, with Game 4 to be played tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The team came into the playoffs seeded No. 8, but proceeded to take out Vancouver (4-1), St. Louis (4-0) and Phoenix (4-1).

“For the past several years, we have been the dominant brand choice during the regular season and even more so when it’s all on the line during the post-season,” Kevin Davis, president and CEO for Bauer Performance Sports, the parent company of Bauer Hockey, said in a statement. “The fact that so many of the game’s best players choose Bauer during the most important time of the year is a testament to our never-ending commitment to innovation and developing the highest-performing products in the marketplace."

Added Davis, "This time of year is always exciting and it’s even more exciting for us as a company to see us once again chosen as the top brand in hockey.”
