One Leg At A Time: Drew Brees Joins Favre, Earnhardt Jr. As Wrangler Spokesmen

April 23, 2013: What makes an NFL team with a great quarterback even better? How about adding another great quarterback.

Wrangler took that route, signing New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees to an endorsement deal. Brees joins retired quarterback Brett Favre and high-profile Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. as brand spokesmen.

Wrangler said that the trio would be featured in upcoming campaigns, scheduled to launch in August to coincide with the 2013 NFL pre-season. An online print ad with Favre, Brees and Earnhardt Jr, was released to time with the news of Brees' signing. "Here's to football, racing and more football," text reads under a shot of the three men. "Introducing Drew Brees." Followed by the tag line: "Wrangers. Real. Comfortable. Jeans."

Financial details were not disclosed.

The brand said that Brees would be featured in national advertising, promotions and in-store signage for the Wrangler Five Star Premium Denim line,, which is available at such retailers as Walmart, Kmart and Target.

“Both on and off the field, Drew has proven himself to be a determined, down-to-earth man that many people look up to and respect,” Craig Errington, vp-marketing for Wrangler, said in a statement. “His dependability, work ethic and family values make him a natural fit for Wrangler. He epitomizes the core values of our brand, and we look forward to cheering him on during the 2013 season and beyond.”

Brees' endorsement deals also include Nike, Vicks, Verizon, So Delicious ice cream, Cox Communications, Penta water, Power Balance and TRX.

Brees and his wife, Brittany, also spend much of their time supporting The Brees Dream Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to "improve the quality of life for cancer patients as well as providing care, education and opportunities for children and families in need." Since 2003, and Brees and the Brees Dream Foundation "have collectively committed more than $17,000,000 to worthy causes globally," according to the Foundation's Web site.

Both Brees and Favre have won Super Bowl titles (Super Bowls XLIV and XXXI, respectively). Brees was also named MVP of the game in his Super Bowl win.

According to Brees, “When I’m off the field I just want to be comfortable. Wrangler jeans help me do just that. I’ve always admired Wrangler and what the brand stands for, and am honored to be a part of this partnership.”
