Brees, Mahomes 'Millionaires'; Barkley, Gurley Top Fan Voting For 2019 Pro Bowl

NYSJ Sports-Entertainment Business News Service

December 15, 2018: Quarterbacks and running backs have all five of the highest vote totals and eight of the Top Ten in the third and final 2019 Pro Bowl tally released by the NFL.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees topped all players with 1,270631 votes.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was second (1,197,370 votes) and was the only other player to top a million fans votes for the 2019 Pro Bowl presented by Verizon.

They were followed by New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley (987,562) and Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley (957,052), and were the only other players to top 900,000 fan votes.

The Top Five also includes Rams quarterback Jared Goff (838,561).

Fan voting ended on Dec. 13.

Players for the game are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl.

NFL players and coaches cast their votes on Dec. 14. Those totals were not released by the league.

Pro Bowl rosters will be revealed Dec. 18 live on NFL Network’s Pro Bowl special NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed (8 PM ET).

The 2019 Pro Bowl presented by Verizon will air live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, Disney XD and simulcast on ABC (3 PM ET).

The Pro Bowl will feature a match-up between the AFC and NFC, with each conference led by two Legends Captains - one offensive and one defensive.

Kelly (offense) and Ware (defense) will lead the AFC, while Smith (offense) and Urlacher (defense) will lead the NFC. The four Legends Captains, who were collectively selected to 30 Pro Bowls, will serve as mentors for the Pro Bowl players and be present on the sidelines on gameday.
