Veteran MLB, NFL Executive John Brody Climbs In The Ring WIth WWE

December 7, 2015: John Brody, who earned a reputation as being one of the most proficient executives in pro sports during his time with the NFL, MLB, and the Wasserman Media Group, has entered the ring with WWE.

Brody has been named evp-global sales & partnerships, where he will report directly to WWE chief revenue and CMO Michelle Wilson.

WWE is building its assets around the globe, including WWE Network and such events and shows as WrestleMania, Raw, SmackDown, Main Event and Total Divas.

According to WWE, in his new position, Brody will be a "key member of the company’s senior management team, responsible for providing strategic vision for WWE’s sales operation on a global basis while expanding WWE’s media partnerships."

Brody spent the past year as a consultant and advisor, where his clients included WWE.

"After spending the past six months working as a consultant and advisor to WWE, we identified the need to reconfigure and centralize the global sales and partnerships functionality," Brody wrote in an e-mail. "Beginning this week, I will be overseeing this transformation."

According to Brody, "There is a vast opportunity to expand and enhance access for fans and brand partners via WWE assets throughout the marketplace. Over the coming months, we will be taking the necessary steps to build, grow and compete in the sports and entertainment landscape."

“John is a recognized leader within the sports and entertainment marketplace, and I am thrilled to have him join WWE,” Wilson said in a statement. “Given the global opportunities for partners to engage with our massive fan base across TV, digital and social platforms, I’m confident that John will be successful in growing this line of our business.”

Brody spent three years as an account exec at ad agency Young & Rubicam (1995-98) before joining MLB as vp-corporate sales and marketing. He stayed there for four years become moving to the NBA to become evp-CMO for the Boston Celtics.

Brody returned to MLB in 2004 as senior vp-sales and marketing, where he remained until 2010.

During his more than 12 years at MLB, Brody's division secured partnerships with global brands including Anheuser-Busch, Bank of America, General Motors, MasterCard, Pepsi, State Farm and Taco Bell.

Brody spent three years with powerhouse firm Wasserman Media Group as president for global and business development, then was named svp-sponsorship and media sales fro the NFL.

WrestleMania 31, which took place in Levi's Stadium, home for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, on March 29, became the highest-grossing live event in WWE history, taking in $12.6 million.

WrestleMania 32 is scheduled for April 3, 2016, in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
