Caesars Signs Raiders First Gaming Deal, Las Vegas Stadium First Founding Partner

By Barry Janoff

November 1, 2018: The NFL’s Raiders will not move from Oakland to Las Vegas at least until the 2019 season, and their under-construction venue is not scheduled to open until the 2020 campaign, but Las Vegas Stadium already has its first partner.

Caesars Entertainment has signed a 15-year deal to become the inaugural founding partner of the Las Vegas Stadium, with the 65,000-seat venue expected to bring “520,000 people to home games each year, when it opens for the 2020 NFL season,” according to the Raiders.

The alliance also marks the Raiders first deal with a gaming and hospitality company.

Financial terms were not released.

“Sports have long been a core part of the Caesars’ experience,” Chris Holdren, CMO for Caesars Entertainment, said via the company.

“With this deep partnership, Caesars will become an essential part of the game time ritual for Raiders fans everywhere. From activations to exclusive experiences, fans of the Silver & Black will see Caesars as their home on game day.”

Among the planned activation, Caesars Entertainment will have a branded stadium entrance and drop-off zone, digital signage, media, radio and print assets; a Caesars-branded Owners Suite at the 50-yard line of stadium; and alumni, player and cheerleader appearances.

In addition, select Caesars Entertainment customers and Total Rewards members will have access to exclusive experiences such as the ”Caesars-branded Owners Suite, VIP Dinners on the field, training facility events, fantasy camp participation, stadium tours, along with tickets to home games and most stadium event,” according to Caesars Entertainment.

Looking farther down the road, the NFL has already booked sites for the Super Bowl through 2024, but Las Vegas Stadium would be among the top candidates to host Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.

The deal follows one earlier this week when Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment signed a multi-year partnership with Caesars Entertainment for alliances with its properties the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center.

On Oct. 19, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, a joint venture of Caesars Entertainment and JACK Entertainment, signed an official partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, allowing Horseshoe to use the team’s logos and trademarks at the gaming venue, with customer loyalty cards displaying its new NFL partnerships to come.

In September, the Dallas Cowboys became the first NFL team with a casino deal, signing a multi-year pact naming WinStar World Casino and Resort as the official casino of the team.

According to a new report from American Gaming Assn., the NFL could realize more than $2.5 billion annually in revenue from sports betting due to greater fan engagement and viewership, advertising, media rights, sponsorships, merchandise and ticket sales.

All of the gaming and casino alliances follow the Supreme Court ruling in May overturning the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, a ruling passed in 1992 prohibiting most states from authorizing betting on sports.

According to Marc Badain, president of the Raiders, “The Raiders are proud to welcome Caesars Entertainment as a founding partner of Las Vegas Stadium.

“We are honored to align with a company that shares the Raiders’ values of improving the local community and delivering exceptional customer service in creating this transformative project.”
