Carrie On: Another Return Engagement For Carrie Underwood On NBC ‘SNF’ Open

August 1, 2023: As Yogi Berra is said to have said, “It’s déjà vu all over again.”
According to NBC’s interpretation, if Carrie Underwood is successful in the show open for Sunday Night Football, bring her back, again.
NBC said today that Underwood would star in the show open for Sunday Night Football for the 11th consecutive season, beginning Sept. 10 on NBC and Peacock when the Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants.
NBC said the game would be a series-high fifth time that the Cowboys and Giants have met in the opening NBC Sunday Night Football game.
The new show open features a concert performance of an updated version of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” interspersed with "augmented reality highlights displayed across a halo scoreboard."
NBC said Underwood performed the new show open in The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, home of her ongoing residency, "Reflection."
“We’re thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season’s show open,” Tripp Dixon, creative director for the Sunday Night Football show open for each of the past 11 years, said via NBC.
“It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way.”
NBC said Sunday Night Football finished the 2022-23 TV season as prime time’s No. 1 TV show in all key metrics for an on-going record 12th consecutive year.
“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play,” Underwood said via NBC.
“I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!.”
