"It is rare to be in the presence of guys from the greatest team in NBA history. So, we're pretty lucky, because we've one of those players in the house today — Steve Kerr from the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls." — President Obama on Thursday honoring the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors but singling out head coach Steve Kerr. This was Kerr's fourth trip to the White House as an NBA champ, having been there twice with the Bulls and once with the San Antonio Spurs

NFL Super Bowl XLVII Big Game Committee In Big Easy Adds Another Big Partner

By Barry Janoff

May 24, 2012: Is it too early to think about Super Bowl XLVII?

Not in New Orleans, where in 2013 the NFL's Big Game will be played in the Big Easy for the 10th time.

The New Orleans Host Committee said it has signed Chevron as the official volunteer services partner. The oil firm joins energy provider Entergy, Zatarain's food and spice company and Louisiana Sea Food as Host Committee sponsors.

The Host Committee said that "in partnership with Chevron [it] aims to recruit 8,000 volunteers for Super Bowl XLVII, which will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Feb. 3, 2013.

"Chevron brings a different level of involvement to the table like we have never seen before," Jay Cicero, executive director for the Host Committee, said in a statement. "Their entire project team is involved with our volunteer management staff."

Financial terms were not disclosed. Industry analysts said that the New Orleans Host Committee has a goal to raise $12 million via sponsorship deals.

According to Warner Williams, vp Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, "Chevron is committed to supporting the communities where we live and operate and our volunteer program title partnership for Super Bowl XLVII is an excellent example of that commitment,."

The New Orleans Super Bowl XLVII Host Committee is a "non-profit organization charged with fulfilling all the obligations of our bid to Host Super Bowl in 2013." It is led by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and is comprised of members from the hospitality community.

Committee co-chairs are James Carville and Mary Matalin.
