Coca-Cola Ramps Up ‘4-Pack’ Marketing, Celebrates 90-Year Olympics Alliance

Special to NYSJ Sports-Entertainment Business News Service

December 22, 2017: As the days to the 2018 Winter Games number down, official Olympics partners are ramping up activation via multi-media platforms and on the ground in South Korea.

Coca-Cola, a top-tier global partner with the International Olympic Committee, works with all 204 National Olympic Committees, including the U.S. Olympic Committee and Team USA

For the 2018 Games, Coca-Cola will have international  multi-platform marketing and activation in and around the Games location, including undertaking a water quality project in the PyeongChang area,

In January, specially designed Share a Coke bottles will feature the Coca-Cola “4-Pack” of U.S. Olympic athletes and hopefuls and also help pay tribute to the company’s 90-year history with the Olympic Movement, which dates back to 1928,

Team Coca-Cola includes Mac Bohonnon (freestyle aerial skier), Nathan Chen (freestyle aerial skier), figure skater), Amy Purdy (Paralympic snowboarder, pictured) and Elana Meyers Taylor (bobsledder

In addition to packaging and point-of-sale creative, Team Coca-Cola will be featured across custom out-of-home, digital content and other promotional efforts — including limited-edition, athlete-inspired Coca-Cola Freestyle flavors.

Coca-Cola said it would also partner with “several other notable athletes” throughout its Olympic program.

Among the other activation leading to the Olympics, Coca-Cola will serve as presenting partner of Gold Meets Golden, a celebratory send-off event scheduled for January that brings together Olympians and Hollywood’s leading talent which ties in with both the Golden Globe Awards ceremony (scheduled for Jan. 7) and the Academy Awards (scheduled for March 4).

During the occasion, Coca-Cola will host a rare collection of Olympic memorabilia and one-of-a-kind marketing relics, including more than a dozen Olympic torches.

According to its organizers, Gold Meets Golden is a “star-studded event platform bringing together Hollywood entertainers, professional athletes, medal-winning Olympians and enthusiastic partners to generate awareness and support for sports-related causes."

Coca-Cola is sharing stories from its 4-Pack of athletes on social media with a overview of all four and individual spots.

In addition to Coca-Cola, IOC global partners include Alibaba Group, Atos, Bridgestone, Dow, GE, Intel, Omega, Panasonic, Porcter & Gamble, Samsung, Toyota and Visa.
