Nationwide Goes Another Lap With Dale Earnhardt Jr.

October 13, 2009: Nationwide Insurance, title sponsor of the Nascar Nationwide series and a partner with Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s JR Motorsports, said that it would launch a multi-media campaign next year featuring the driver. Financial details were not disclosed.

This will be the second series of ads between Nationwide and Earnhardt. Although creative was not revealed, Nationwide said the campaign would include TV, radio, and online. Nationwide’s Series Insider Web site, www.Nationwide.com/series, would feature behind the scenes videos and photos from the ad shoot in early December. Nationwide's lead agency is McKinney, Durham, NC, which in May was signed to replace TM Advertising, the insurance company's lead agency since 1998.

According to Nationwide, the effort will build off of last year’s campaign, where Earnhardt Jr. talked about his family’s 30-year history with Nationwide. Earnhardt Jr. and other family members currently are Nationwide Insurance customers, according to the company. Earnhardt did not post any victories in the 2009 Sprint Series and is not among the drivers now vying for the Sprint Cup. His other marketing partners include Wrangler, adidas, Unilever and GoDaddy.

“The story of the Earnhardts’ experience with Nationwide helps bring authenticity to our brand and we believe played an important role in the success of last year’s campaign,”  John Aman, associate vice president for Nationwide Insurance, said in a statement. “The way Dale Jr. and his family connect with Nascar fans and general consumers adds to our decision to continue this partnership. We see this as a great opportunity for both Nationwide and JR Motorsports.” Back to Home Page
