Cowboys Unveil Super Celebration Countdown To Super Bowl XLV

July 26, 2010: The North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee has released plans to not only celebrate the countdown to the NFL championship game on Feb. 6, 2011, but also to honor the 50th anniversary of the Dallas Cowboys.

The North Texas Host Committee said it would oversee the "XLV Countdown Live From Cowboys Stadium presented by Frito-Lay," which will take place at Cowboys Stadium on the evening of Friday, Sept. 10. That also will be the official regular-season kickoff of the Cowboys' celebration of their half-century of NFL history.
The event is scheduled to include a concert by country-and-western star Tim McGraw, a Super Bowl history shown through NFL Films archive footage played out during a performance by the 90-piece Unit Symphony Orchestra and several events honoring the Cowboys, headlined by a "celebration of Emmitt Smth's Hall of Fame career" and athletes and other guests who have played important roles in the team's history.

Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, is an official partner of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, along with such companies as American Airlines, Bank of America and Texas Instruments.

The Cowboys are attempting to become the first NFL team to participate in a Super Bowl in a host stadium in which they play their home games.

"North Texas has such an obvious passion for both music and football and it will be an unbelievable experience to be a part of the official countdown to Super Bowl XLV," McGraw said in a statement. "This will be more than simply a concert, but rather a celebration and Cowboys Stadium is the perfect venue to host such an event." McGraw has been mentioned on a short list of possible performers who could headline the Super Bowl XLV half time show presented by Bridgestone.

According to Smith, who will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 7, "This is really special and I am so humbled to be honored in such a way upon my return from Canton. This is a very special evening for me and my family to be able to share this with the greatest fans in America, who have shown me so much love and support throughout my career."

Among other events this season, the Cowboys have designed their season tickets to feature great moments in team history including Smith breaking the NFL all-time rushing record and highlights from each of the franchise’s five Super Bowl victories.
