• In conjunction with the official grand opening of its Americas headquarters, Bridgestone Americas, Inc. and the Nashville Predators unveiled an additional five-year extension for the naming rights agreement for Bridgestone Arena, home of the Nashville Predators. Initially signed in March 2010, the extended terms now ensure Bridgestone naming rights through 2025. Financial terms were not shared.
• Research, marketing and consulting firm NewZoo, San Francisco, has increased its estimate of the market size for global games for 2016-20 “based on an even stronger performance than anticipated in the first three quarters of the year. NewZoo now says that the global games market would generate $116 billion in game software revenues, $7.1 billion higher than previously estimated and nearly 11% growth vs. 2016. The firm now estimates that the category will hit $143.5 billion in 2020.

• Univision Deportes said it would conclude the year as the “leading sports brand delivering the most soccer viewing in the country throughout 2017.” Univision Deportes said this past year it earned the highest share of soccer viewing in the U.S. among 29 networks broadcasting live soccer, claiming over 40% of all viewing across the networks of Univision. It also said it led the industry by “broadcasting 19 out of 20 top-rated club soccer matches in 2017, regardless of language.”
• The NBA has named Indianapolis as the site for the 2021 All-Star Game, to be played in Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Feb. 14. The next three NBA All-Star Games are: Los Angeles (Staples Center, Feb. 18, 2018), Charlotte (Spectrum Center. Feb. 17, 2019) and Chicago (United Center, Feb. 16, 2020). Cleveland said it would seek to host the 2022 game, which would be the 70th All-Star Game in league history.

Nascar's Patrick Going From Green To Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

September 2, 2012: Danica Patrick usually stands out from the crowd on the race track thanks in part to her lime green car that flies the color of her lead sponsor, GoDaddy.com. But in October, Patrick’s GoDaddy.com No. 7 Chevy is going “pink” to support the month-long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign from the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Patrick and GoDaddy.com said she would drive the hot pink car during the Nascar Nationwide Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 12. The car will retain a prominent GoDaddy.com logo and some lime green items, including the No. 7. The Nascar Nationwide race presented by GoDaddy.com will be seen on ESPN2 at 6:30 PM (ET).

Go Daddy and Patrick's race team, JR Motorsports, are sponsoring the pink-themed car as part of the Chase Authentics’ “Check Your Headlights” program, which works to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and education. Chase Authentics and JR Motorsports will also feature a “Check Your Headlights” line of apparel and products, such as miniature Danica cars (pictured below), items autographed by Patrick and T-shirts. A portion of the proceeds go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

“I love the idea of a pink car to help raise awareness about breast cancer," Patrick said in a statement. "The No. 7 Chevy is known for its iconic Go Daddy green color [but] I think the pink car will pop and attract attention for a good cause. We all know someone who has been impacted by this disease and Nascar fans are so passionate, I know they’ll step up to help the cause.”

Each year some 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Of those, 40,000 succumb to the disease, according to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Web hosting and domain name registration company Go Daddy said it would donate $50,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, along with the Public Interest Registry which manages .Org domain names.

“We are fortunate to be in a position to help others – awareness and prevention are keys to ‘beating breast cancer,’” Teri D’Hooge, Go Daddy’s vp-marketing, said in a statement. “Women’s health has been a cornerstone of Go Daddy’s charity work over the years. We think this campaign is especially powerful because it plays off of Danica and Nascar in a fun, non-conventional way."

Danica and Go Daddy said they hope that this initiative will encourage Nascar fans to "help get more people talking about the breast cancer battle, which unfortunately has touched so many families.”
