Motor City Double Play: NFL 2024 Draft; HBO, NFL Films 'Hard Knocks Detroit Lions'

March 28, 2022: Despite coming off a 3-13-1 season, compiling an 11-36-2 mark over the past three years and not making the playoffs since 2016, the Detroit Lions will play a big role in the NFL’s future.
The league today said the 2024 NFL Draft presented by Bud Light would take place in downtown Detroit.
In addition, HBO Sports and NFL Films are partnering with the Lions for an "unfiltered all-access look at what it takes to make it in the NFL" with Hard Knocks: Training Camp With The Detroit Lions.
The NFL said the 2024 NFL Draft presented by Bud Light would be staged in the area around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza, most likely April 25-27.
Green Bay and Washington DC were also considered top contenders.
"The Draft has become a prominent off-season event across the country, and we are excited to work with the Lions and their partners to bring the 2024 NFL Draft to the Motor City," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said today at the Annual League Meeting in Palm Beach, Fla., following a review of the proposal by the Fan Engagement & Major Events Advisory Committee and full ownership.
“With the help of Visit Detroit, the Detroit Sports Commission and the City of Detroit, the Lions passionate fan base and all visitors will be treated to an incredible three-day experience."
The 2022 NFL Draft presented by Bud Light will be in Las Vegas April 28-30, followed by 2023 in Kansas City April 27-29, to air across ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes and digital channels
Hard Knocks: Training Camp With The Detroit Lions marks the 17th edition of the 18-time Sports Emmy-winning series, but the first with the Lions.
Among the storylines, Hard Knocks will follow head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff, who was traded to the team last year for Matthew Stafford, who in turn was quarterback for the Super Bowl LVI champion Los Angeles Rams after 12 seasons with the Lions.
HBO has aired 82 episodes and one anniversary special in its first 16 seasons.
"We are excited about the opportunity to showcase the City of Detroit and the amazing culture we are building at the Lions," Rod Wood, Lions president and CEO, said via the team.
"HBO Sports and NFL Films are the best of the best and we know they will be excellent partners in sharing our story with football fans around the world."
Camera crews will go to the Lions' training camp in Allen Park, Mich., in the next few months to begin filming.
The five-episode season debuts Aug. 9 (10 PM ET) with additional hour-long episodes debuting subsequent Tuesdays at the same time, culminating with the Sept. 6 season finale.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp With The Detroit Lions will be narrated by Liev Schreiber, marking his 16th season with the show.
