If The Shoe Fits: Durant Signs Lifetime Deal With Nike, Joining Jordan, LeBron

April 28, 2023: Kevin Durant is already in exclusive company when it comes to his NBA legacy.
Now, he is in a club that has just two other members.
Durant and Nike have agreed to a lifetime deal, news that he unveiled exclusively on Boardroom, the media outlet Durant co-founded with his manager, Rich Kleiman.
The other two who have lifetime deals with Nike are Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
"When I first signed with Nike, I couldn't have dreamed of how far we'd go in this partnership," Durant posted.
"We've done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We've done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We've traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I'm excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal."
Durant did not share financial details.
Durant signed with Nike in his rookie NBA season in 2007. The first signature shoe was released in 2009.
Overall, there have been 16 versions of KD's signature shoe, including the Nike KD 16, which Durant wore during the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Durant posted a photo of several versions of the Nike KD 16 on Instagram, with a nod to his current team, the Phoenix Suns, by placing them amid cacti.
The lifetime partnership will continue to include footwear, apparel, and a community and philanthropic collaboration focused on grassroots basketball, according to Durant.
The alliance
has also supported the Durant Family Foundation, which “enriches the lives of at-risk youth from low-income backgrounds through educational, athletic and social programs”; and Team Durant, which refurbishes basketball courts in at-need communities.
“As one of best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years," John Slusher, Nike evp-global sports marketing, said via Boardroom.
"We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”
