Endorse Responsibly: Elway Gets Into The (Nude) Spirits Of Things
August 13, 2009: When sports fans think of John Elway, they usually think of two NFL Super Bowl wins with the Denver Broncos, 'The Drive" in the fourth quarter of the AFC champioinship game in 1987 (98 yards in five minutes to tie the Cleveland Browns) and nine Pro Bowl selections. Now, Elway can also be associated with Nude Vodka. Nude Spirits, which produces the spirit, said that Elway has become a member of the company's advisory board. According to the Punta Gorda, Fla.-based company, Elway's involvement would include "dealing with future investors, partners, and distributors." There was no mention of Elway appearing in marketing.
In a statement, Nude Spirits said that "two of the most important traits for a quarterback are leadership skills and the ability to communicate a vision. John Elway used these qualities to become the winningest quarterback of all time; and now brings these advantages to Nude Spirits."
“We are honored to have John Elway on our team," said Shawn Harlan, CEO and founder of Nude Spirits. "Most people know John as the Hall of Fame quarterback from Denver. I think of John as a savvy businessman, a leader, a philanthropist and someone who will play a significant role in the success of Nude Vodka,”
Elway's other business deals include the Elway Home Collection by Bassett, investments in auto dealerships and restaurants and a line of Denver Broncos apparel for men, women and kids. He also has been co-owner of the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League, the future of which is now in jeopardy. Elway, who retired in 1998, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
“Nude Vodka is the smoothest vodka I have ever had; a true sipping vodka," Elway said in a statement. "I am honored to be on the Nude Vodka team and look forward to growing our brand to be a global contender in the spirits industry." Back to Home Page
