Snapper Adds Fuel To The Lastest Saga Of Brett Favre's NFL 'Great Debate

June 17, 2010: It is a question that has consumed mankind for countless eons — or at least for the past several NFL seasons: Will Brett Favre permanently retire?

The topic has become such a part of Favre's makeup that marketing partners have been incorporating it into campaigns. Sears ran a series of TV ads during the 2009 season in which Favre waffled over buying electronic equipment, Now, Snapper is asking fans to vote on whether or not he will come back in the fall for what would be his 20th professional season and second with the Minnesota Vikings.

Now through Aug. 15, consumers are being directed to a dedicated Facebook page to vote on whether Favre will "Throw or Mow."  Although the outcome might not affect Favre's decision, one consumer who registers to vote will receive a Brett Favre autographed football. (Details here.)

A supporting ad that will run on Internet, including YouTube and Facebook lays out the game plan. "Brett Favre, one of the all-time greats, clearly loves to throw the football. He also loves to mow his lawn with his Snapper mower," offers a voice over as we see Favre doing both. "So which do you think he should do next season? Throw? Or mow? Give us your vote and sign up for a chance to win a Brett Favre autographed football."

Favre recently underwent ankle surgery but has yet to reveal his intentions for the 2010 season. "This is to confirm that I did have a procedure to remove some scar tissue and bone spurs from my ankle which had been bothering me for a period of time," Favre posted on his official Web site, which still features photos of hims in his Vikings uniform. "I appreciate your concerns."

Favre, who turns 41 in October, would be in the second year of a deal with the Vikings that would pay him $13 million, according to NFL analysts. Last season, Favre threw 33 TDs against just seven interceptions and led the Vikings to a 12-4 and the NFC championship game. The Vikings lost to the eventual Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints.
