NFL Tickets Bills, Titans, Jaguars, Chiefs, Patriots To Host 2023 International Games

January 19, 2023: The NFL may be focused on Super Bowl LVII in Arizona next month, but it is also thinking about its International Games schedule for 2023.
The NFL today unveiled the five ”host” teams to play in the five International Games scheduled for the 2023 season: the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars in London; and the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots in Germany.
There will be no international game in Mexico in 2023 ”due to renovations taking place in Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.”
The NFL said such details as dates, “visiting” teams and kickoff times would be confirmed later in the year when the full 2023 schedule is released. (Information is available here).
The London Games are being presented by IG online trading and investments firm. The German Games are being presented by DKB (Das Kann Bank).
The NFL said its 2022 International Games “saw record-breaking attendances and viewership as ticket demand and fandom continue to grow for the league across the world.”
"Growing the league and our sport internationally is a major strategic priority for the NFL, and we are excited to again be playing five games outside of the United States in 2023," Peter O'Reilly, NFL evp-club business, major events and international, said via the league.
“We know how important live regular season games are to our passionate global fans and we thank our clubs for their strong, long-term commitment to this important initiative. Interest in our game globally is at an all-time high, and we look forward to returning to the UK and Germany in 2023 with some of the most iconic clubs and stars in the NFL."
London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — which the league said is the only purpose-built NFL stadium outside of the U.S. — will again host two international games, with the Bills and Titans.
The Jaguars will have a “home game” on their schedule in Wembley Stadium, as part of their multi-year commitment to playing in the U.K.
The Chiefs and Patriots Germany destination cities will be named later this year.
The NFL previously confirmed that Munich and Frankfurt would stage games in Germany over the next four years.
The Chiefs and Patriots are part of the NFL's International Home Marketing Area, program, which sees teams secure international marketing rights in countries beyond the U.S., with both teams having been awarded rights in Germany.
The NFL said its first international regular season game in Germany — this past Nov. 13 between the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — had 69,811 in attendance in the sold-out Munich Alliance Arena, and was NFL Network's most-watched international game on record in the U.S. with more than 5.8 million viewers (not counting OTA viewing in Tampa and Seattle).
German broadcaster ProSieben had a "record-breaking" 2.7 million viewers watch the game, “making it the most-watched NFL regular season or playoff game ever in Germany — only trailing the last three Super Bowls as the most-watched NFL game of all-time,” according to the NFL.
The league also said that Fanatics, the NFL's exclusive event retail operator for Europe, has confirmed that “game day merchandise sales at the Allianz Arena were the highest-ever recorded for an NFL game outside of the U.S.” Sales figures were not shared.
"We could not be more excited to participate in a Germany game and introduce more of the world to Chiefs Kingdom this fall," Clark Hunt, Chiefs chairman and CEO, said via the team.
"Our team and our fans have had incredible experiences in London and Mexico City as part of the International Series in the past, and we look forward to helping the NFL in its effort to continue growing the game in Germany."
According to Robert Kraft, Patriots chairman and CEO via the team, "We are thrilled to be selected to play in Germany this year.
“
We are undefeated in our three previous international games, thanks in part to the outstanding support from our fans. We know that some of our most passionate fans reside in Germany, and we look forward to finally playing a game there. We know the fans will create an amazing atmosphere."
The Jacksonville Jaguars, with IHMA marketing rights in the U.K., will play the tenth London game in team history this year.
"The Jaguars and Wembley Stadium made International Games history in the capital in 2022, boasting the highest attendance of any NFL game in London ever and we are committed to Wembley for at least two more annual home games, with the aim of making each one bigger and better than the last,” Mark Lamping, Jaguars president, said via the team.
“(But) our commitment to London and the United Kingdom goes much deeper than just one home game each year. We have a loyal and continually growing fan base which we very much appreciate, our JagTag program reaches almost 90,000 young people spanning the breadth of the country, and the Union Jax Foundation ensures we are able to provide support to a cross section of society's vulnerable young people.
“The Jaguars plan to always be part of NFL landscape in London and we are all looking forward to being back in 2023.”
Regarding Mexico, O'Reilly said, "Mexico plays a critical role in the NFL's international growth strategy, with its passionate and growing fan base. We remain committed to year-round engagement with our amazing Mexican fans and look forward to future games in Mexico."
