Sept. 21, 2009: Phillips-Van Heusen and J. C. The alliance will be supported by marketing that includes  TV, radio, print, digital and outdoor. In addition, the Van Heusen Pro Football Hall of Fame Fan’s Choice tour will visit select NFL stadiums throughout the season, which will include appearances by Hall of Famers and memorabilia from the Hall of Fame’s permanent collection.

The 12 players eligiable for fan ceremonial fan voting. However, the fan voting (here) of the 12 pre-selected players will only be ceremonial and will have no affect on the official Class of 2010 Hall of Fame inductees, which are named by the Board of Selectors. “This is [an] historic moment for the Hall and for football fans, as it marks the first time we are endorsing this type of fan voting forum,” George Veras, president for Pro Football Hall Of Fame Enterprises, stressed in a statement. “Although the fan’s vote will not count towards the official selection process, one thing is certain, the Hall will hear the fans loud and clear.” Added Allen Sirkin, president and COO of Phillips-Van Heusen, “This is the only official opinion poll on this subject and we’re excited to see the debate and how, ultimately, the Fan’s Choice for the Class of 2010 stacks up against the choices of the Board of Selectors.”

Wide receiver Jerry Rice and all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith lead the official list of 131 players, coaches and contributors who make up the preliminary list of modern-era nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010.
