"It is rare to be in the presence of guys from the greatest team in NBA history. So, we're pretty lucky, because we've one of those players in the house today — Steve Kerr from the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls." — President Obama on Thursday honoring the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors but singling out head coach Steve Kerr. This was Kerr's fourth trip to the White House as an NBA champ, having been there twice with the Bulls and once with the San Antonio Spurs

NBA's Top Rookie Sees New Era In Marketing

June 19, 2009: Blake Griffin, the 6'10", 250 Oklahoma forward who is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NBA draft on June 25, is already ramping up his marketing portfolio. Griffin has signed a deal with New Era for the Blake Griffin X collection, which will hit retail July 15. New Era and Griffin will unveil the collection on June 23 at the New Era flagship store in New York during a pre-draft event that is being presented with Sprite, EA Sports, Subway and Ciroc.

Electronic Arts also said that Griffin will be the cover athlete of EA Sports' NCAA Basketball 10, due out in time for the holidays for PlayStation3 and Xbox 360.

During the New Era event, fans can compete in an EA Sports tournament, with the winner getting to challenge Griffin and win a custom PS3 gaming console. Griffin also appears in the second season of ESPN's Webisode, The Rookie, the first episode of which follows him to workouts and events in New York and to Chicago during the pre-draft combine in May that brought together many of the players expected to become NBA rookies next season. And he is featured on the home page of the Los Angeles Clippers, who during the NBA Lottery earned the right to the No. 1 spot in the upcoming draft.
