Gronk-Hosted 'Crashletes' From Rob Dyrdek Gets Premiere Date From Nickelodeon

By Barry Janoff

June 16, 2016: Just because it's the NFL off-season doesn't mean you won't be seeing Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots on national TV.

As previously revealed, Gronkowski will be the host of Crashletes, a series on Nickelodeon that focuses on sports videos — but not the championship type.

This series celebrates "some of the wildest and most outrageous sports moments captured on camera from amateur athletes who give it their all, but fall short of greatness."

Crashletes is scheduled to debut July 5.

The series is under the auspices of Rob Dyrdek and Shane Nickerson of Superjacket Productions, who also produce on MTV Ridiculousness, which airs the failures and flubs of people via Internet videos, but of the more decidedly dangerous and insane type.

The show will be co-hosted by Stevie Nelson and Brandon Broady and feature guest appearances from the likes of Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman, teenage TV host (and granddaughter of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.) Karsyn Elledge, skateboarder Jagger Eaton, Detroit Lions running back Stevan Ridley, pro snowboarder Kaitlyn Farrington and other members of Rob Gronkowski's family.

As in Ridculousness, videos shown on Crashletes will get funny and off-the-cuff comments from Gronkowski and friends; and will be united under umbrella themes, such as “Tree-jected,” “So Proudly We Fail” (people who cannot remember the words to the "Star-Spangled Banner") and “Animal Interference."

In a trailer preview from Nick, Gronkowski and crew watch a video of youth football players who fail to break through a celebration paper banner being held up by parents, causing a mass pile-up as the kids keep coming.

"First off, this is terrible coaching," says Gronkowski. Pointing to the team's biggest player on the screen, Gronkowski offers, "You send this kid first."

According to Nickelodeon, "Crashletes features amateur athletes, wannabe athletes, animal athletes and those who don’t even resemble anything close to an athlete in the craziest, funniest and most outrageous sports bloopers, blunders and absurdities from around the world."

"I'm such a big kid at heart and I'm eager to show my energy and passion off the field in Nickelodeon's newest series, Crashletes," Gronkowski said in a statement.

"There will be a lot of laughs as we celebrate the most epic, sickest sports fails on the planet."
