February 13, 2016: Thanks to State Farm, The Hoopers have arrived at the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto, and they've brought Baby Dame Dolla with them.
The eclectic family — Chris Paul (Dad), DeAndre Jordan (Mom), Kevin Lov (son), Kevin Garnett (Grandpa) and Damian Lillard (baby) star in a new commercial, "Droppin' Dimes," set to break during All-Star Game weekend.
This is the fourth spot in the campaign for The Hoopers, which also includes a special spot featuring Reggie Miller ("Downtown"), all of which will air throughout the State Farm All-Star Game Saturday Night and then during the game Sunday.
An extended two-minute version will play on social media.
En route to Toronto, State Farm put The Hoopers in a #FindersKeepers scavenger hunt, during which followers on Instagram and Twitter were given clues about finding NBA items, including jerseys and tickets, in seven cities.
According to State Farm, "Ahead of this year’s All-Star Weekend, State Farm decided to take advantage of Lillard’s MC skills to produce 'Droppin’ Dimes.' The song is all about providing assists both on and off the court, whether as an NBA player or a State Farm agent, and encouraging consumers to save money by combining home and auto insurance with State Farm."
In "Droppin' Dimes," Lillard, with help from Love, raps:
"Drip, drip Drop
"Droppin' Dimes Droppin' Dimes
"Baby Dame Dolla trail-blazen' dimes everywhere
"I don't wanna boast but I'm dropping' dimes from coast to coast
"I'm dropping' dimes everywhere like I just don't care
"Droppin' dimes on the bike, on the stairs
"Even dropping' dimes on my teddy bear."
At that point, The Hoopers next door neighbor, a State Farm agent, says to Chris Paul, "I probably shouldn't have brought up how much money you can save with State Farm by combining your home and auto insurance around the kids."
The extended two-minute music video adds such lines as, referring to Kevin (Grandpa) Garnett, "Here is my OG, Original Grandpa/He may be old but he's fierce like a timber wolf that can't be controlled."
In addition, State Farm and NBA Cares are also collaborating on the first State Farm Assist Tracker, which will continue NBA Cares’ and the State Farm ‘Exist to Assist’ program’s mission to "create safer, stronger, more educated communities."
The State Farm Assist Tracker is a digital hub located on NBA.com dedicated to "monitoring the total number of assists made during the All-Star Game."
The Boys & Girls Club of America will receive $1,800 per assist (in honor of the 18,000 agents State Farm has across the country). Assists will be tallied based on the NBA’s official Player Tracking system, with State Farm and NBA providing matching funds for all donations.
The other commercials in the campaign to date are "Meet the Hoopers," "Robbed," "Hawks and Hornets" and "Downtown."
