NFL Partner Hyundai Bringing Multi-Platform Activation To Super Bowl LII, Minneapolis

Special to NYSJ Sports-Entertainment Business News Service

December 14, 2017: Hyundai has unveiled plans for its Super Bowl LII campaign, saying that it would activate behind its "Better Drives Us" effort on-air, via digital and social media and on the ground in Minneapolis, which is hosting the NFL’s Big Game and surrounding events.

Hyundai, the official car and SUV of the NFL, said this would be its 10th Super Bowl appearance in the past 11 years.

"The Super Bowl continues to be a great platform to entertain consumers and deliver brand and product messages to a massive audience," Dean Evans, CMO for Hyundai Motor America, said in a statement.

"We welcome the creative challenge and the opportunity to test and hone our Super Bowl formula, which has found success the past several years," said Evans.

Super Bowl LII will be played on Feb. 4 in U.S. Bank Stadium, home venue for the Vikings, and will air on NBC.

Hyundai did not reveal financial details or details for its on-air creative. NBC is getting upward of $5 million for 30-second spots, according to industry analysts.

INNOCEAN Worldwide is lead agency for Hyundai.

In addition to TV, Hyundai said it would have activation spaces in the Super Bowl Experience driven by Genesis, an interactive NFL "theme park" in the Minneapolis Convention Center; as well as at Super Bowl Live, a free fan festival.

Hyundai is also bringing to the city approximately 275 vehicles, which will serve as transportation for teams, staff, volunteers and other local groups.

According to Evans, “Being an NFL sponsor gives us the ability to truly integrate our program across TV, digital, social and on the ground in Minnesota, and immerse Super Bowl fans in the latest vehicles and technologies Hyundai has to offer."
