Jamba Juice Adding Marketing Juice To 2012 Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Series

May 31, 2012: Jamba Juice has signed a deal with lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company Competitor Group to become the “official blended fruit beverage and smoothie” sponsor of seven upcoming events in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

Financial terms were not revealed.

Jamba’s sponsorship launches on June 3 at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & 1/2 Marathon To Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It runs through the Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon on Dec. 2.
        
Other marketing partners of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series include Sports Authority, Michelob Ultra, Brooks, Marathon Energy Bar powered by Snickers and Got Chocolate Milk?

Jamba's marketing support will include signage at the Marathons and related pre-race expos, concerts and other events; hosting 30-minute fitness clinics with Jamba’s nutritionists at select pre-race Health & Fitness Expos; and product sampling. Jamba’s mascot, Bananaman, will also make appearances.

The first Rock 'n' Roll Marathon was held in 1998 in San Diego. Events are now held in 27 cities, with the first international events taking place this year (Lisbon) and in 2013.

“Through our sponsorship, we will have an opportunity to promote the Jamba brand and our array of delicious and better-for-you offerings, which we feel are a great fit for those seeking convenient, nutritious products to complement their healthy, active lifestyles," Julie Washington, chief brand officer for Jamba Juice, said in a statement.

According to Sean Clottu, vp for Competitor Group, “We are delighted to partner with Jamba Juice as the official blended fruit beverage and smoothie sponsor of these select Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Our goal of providing a world-class event experience for runners both on and off the course aligns well with Jamba’s mission to provide athletes with delicious and healthy refreshments.”

Upcoming Jamba Juice activation includes San Diego (June 3), Seattle (June 23), Chicago (July 22), Denver (Sept. 22), San Jose (Oct. 7), Los Angeles (Oct. 28) and Las Vegas (Dec. 2).
