December 19, 2012: There are two airports within the borders of New York City — John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia — both located in the borough of Queens. But that hasn't stopped JetBlue from filing a flight plan to Brooklyn, where the airline has signed a deal to become the official domestic airline of Barclays Center, the recently-opened home of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The wording of the agreement leaves the door open for Barclays to sign an international airline to a marketing deal.
Under terms of the alliance, JetBlue will get exclusive digital street-to-seat signage for all events, courtside TV-visible signage and baseline signage during Brooklyn Nets home games and arena activation rights. JetBlue also will support with TV, Internet and signage at airport terminals.
JetBlue said it would help to launch the alliance on Dec. 20 with activation at JFK to include a hoops court where ticketed customers would have the opportunity to shoot baskets and win such prizes as flight giveaways and Nets game tickets. The Brooklyn Nets dance team, the Brooklynettes, is scheduled to be in attendance.
Throughout January, Barclays Center will host a “Bound for Brooklyn” sweepstakes, presented by JetBlue, for the chance to score round trip JetBlue tickets to or from New York, plus a pair of tickets to an event at Barclays Center. Five winners will be selected every Thursday for a total of 25 winners.

Joining the Nets during Barclays Center's first year of operation will be boxing, tennis and college basketball and hockey; plus a plethora of entertainment events. The NHL's New York Islanders are scheduled to move to the venue from Nassau Coliseum for the 2015-16 season.
In addition to naming rights holder Barclays, the arena has alliances with founding partners American Express, Calvin Klein, Cushman & Wakefield, EmblemHealth, Foxwoods Resort Casino, Geico, Honda, MetroPCS, Stolichnaya and TicketMaster. Other sponsors include Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Haier America, HighPoint Solutions, New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, Red Bull, Sony, Tyco and Willis.
