LeBron, Lakers Continue To Lead The NBA In Jersey, Team Merchandise Sales

January 21, 2022: The Los Angeles Lakers may be struggling to move up from the middle of the pack in the Western Conference, but the team, led by LeBron James, is the leader of the NBA pack when it comes to sales of jerseys and team merchandise.

The NBA and National Basketball Players Assn. said today that James and the Lakers have the league’s Most Popular Jersey and Team Merchandise, respectively.

Results are based on NBAStore.com sales for the first half of the 2021-22 regular season, Oct. 19, 2021  through Jan. 12, 2022.

The league did not release specific sales figures.

James and the Lakers have held the No. 1 spots since figures released at the end of the 2018-19 season showed James having the best-selling jersey in his first season with the Lakers and the Lakers with the No. 1 most-popular team merchandise.

The Top Five Most Popular Jerseys also include 2. Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), 3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, (Milwaukee Bucks), 4. Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets) and 5. Luka Dončić (Dallas Mavericks).

The Top Five Most Popular Team Merchandise also includes 2. Golden State Warriors, 3. Milwaukee Bucks, 4. Brooklyn Nets and 5. Boston Celtics.

According to the NBA and NBPA, Ja Morant (No. 7) of the Memphis Grizzlies is among the Top 10 in jersey sales for the first time in his career and the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young (No. 8) has reached his highest ranking on the jersey list.

The Warriors’ Klay Thompson (No. 9), who just returned to play after two seasons due to injuries, returns to the Top 15 jersey list for the first time since 2018.

The New York Knicks’ RJ Barrett (No. 14) and Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball (No. 15) make their debut on the jersey list.
