LeBron James, Nike Join The Flintstones For Pebbles,’My Favorite Childhood Cereal’

By Barry Janoff

February 24, 2022: Last year, LeBron James became part of a futuristic animated universe for Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Now, he is going back in time to join with Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble for a campaign with Post brand Pebbles — described as “LeBron's favorite childhood cereal” — Fruity Pebbles x LeBron, offering limited-edition LeBron James' Nikes, a virtual slam-dunk competition and a discount for Nike goods.

"When we learned that LeBron was a huge fan of the cereal when he was a kid, we knew this was a no-brainer,” Leah Broeders, head of licensing for Pebbles cereal, said via the brand.

“It's truly the biggest partnership since the stone ages!"

Featuring Hanna-Barbera’s The Flintstones, Magic Fruity Pebbles changes the color of milk in the cereal bowl.

In that theme, an ”ultra-limited-edition specially designed” Nike LeBron James 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles is being made available via a sweepstakes, a shoe that comes in milk white but changes to Pebbles Purple in the sun.

The kicks — which feature actual photography of the Magic Pebbles red and yellow cereal flakes — employ “Photochromic DCS Technology where the shoe's airbag uses the power of the sun's UV light to transition a completely clear Air unit to a purple colorway.”

According to Nike and Post, “This first-time collaboration between Fruity Pebbles x LeBron means fans everywhere can unlock two colorways, both on and off the court.”

"To have an original pair of my Nike sneakers pay tribute to my favorite cereal growing up is surreal," said James via Nike. "Putting them on and seeing the colorway come to life is even better."

The Nike LeBron 19 Low color-changing kicks will be offered via a sweeps beginning March 1. (See see full terms and conditions here.)

Each box of Magic Fruity Pebbles features an on-pack promotion that offers 20% off one single item at Nike.com.

Pebbles is also hosting a “Yabba Dabba Dunk Contest” for kids ages 6-15.

Starting March 10, consumers can submit their most creative dunks and trick shots at for an opportunity to win a year's supply of Pebbles cereal and a chance to be featured on the JumboTron at a pro basketball game. (Details here.)

The effort also supports National Cereal Day on March 7.

"The Pebbles brand is all about finding new ways to surprise and excite fans," said Broeders.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Nike to launch this one-of-a-kind color-changing collab just in time for National Cereal Day.”

Magic Fruity Pebbles will be available at select retailers nationwide March 7 while supplies last.
