May 2, 2011: Frontier Airlines has signed its first national deal with a sports franchise, a multi-year alliance with the LPGA.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
As the "official airline of the LPGA," Frontier will receive branding at LPGA Tournaments and on LPGA.com and will provide discounted travel to LPGA constituents. The carrier will support with marketing and signage online at FrontierAirlines.com and via social media, on-board and at airports.
LPGA recently added RR Donnelley and CME Group to its roster of national sponsors, which also includes Anheuser-Busch (Michelob Ultra), Prudential, Rolex and Smuckers.
In 2008, during a bankruptcy period, Denver-based Frontier ended its alliances with four Denver sports teams: the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Crush arena football team and the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team.
However, the carrier has been an official partner of the Colorado Rockies since 2003; and in Milwaukee has naming rights to Frontier Airlines Center, a convention and entertainment destination, as well as deals with the MLB Milwaukee Brewers and NBA Bucks.
In addition, Frontier Airlines late last year signed three-year deals to become the official airlines of the Colorado State, University of Colorado and University of Wyoming athletic departments.
"No matter how you phrase it, we are both focused on providing unique and positive experiences for our consumers and partners."
"Frontier Airlines uses the tagline 'A whole different animal,' which represents the commitment to do the little things that make a big difference to customers," Jon Podany, LPGA CMO, said in a statement. "At the LPGA, we have a similar campaign called 'See Why It's Different Out Here.' No matter how you phrase it, we are both focused on providing unique and positive experiences for our consumers and partners."
According to Ian Arthur, vp-marketing and branding for Frontier Airlines, "The LPGA has an excellent reputation built on positive fan experiences and a real commitment to giving back to its community. This partnership is a tremendous opportunity for Frontier to secure significant visibility with an audience that clearly appreciates the similar commitments these two organizations have to providing a better and different guest experience."
