Are You Ready For Some 'Madden NFL 10', ESPN Marketing?

August 11, 2009: As part of the pre-launch for one of the most anticipated videogames of the year, Electronic Arts said that Madden NFL 10 will be integrated across all ESPN media on Aug. 13, a day before the videogame's official release. Included will be prominent positioning during the special Thursday night pre-season kickoff of ESPN’s Monday Night Football, which will feature a rematch of Super Bow XLIII between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. Troy Polamalu of the Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of Arizona are on the cover of Madden NFL 10.

Madden NFL 10 footage, advertising spots and other Madden NFL 10 content will be seen throughout the broadcast. Custom billboards will be featured across ESPN programming throughout Aug. 13, including “SportsCenter” and “NFL Countdown;” Madden NFL 10 "mini-mercials" will run on “SportsCenter” telecasts; and Madden NFL 10 advertising will be featured on the ESPN.com homepage with a unique eight-second interstitial execution. Madden NFL 10 will also be featured in ESPN Mobile including video, messaging, mobile Web and ESPN's ScoreCenter iPhone app.

On Aug. 13, 15 and 17, ESPN2, VH1 and NFL Network, respectively, will air the Madden NFL 10 Pigskin Pro-Am Game, a flag football event pitting two teams containing such NFL legends as Joe Montana, John Elway, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders and Deion Sanders. “The launch of Madden NFL is an event that our fans look forward to throughout the year,” Nathan Stewart, marketing director for EA Sports, said in a statement. “With our ever-expanding audience, we wanted a launch for Madden NFL 10 that would not only show the depth of our connection with NFL football, but also reach our fans in all corners of the country.”
