• NBA All-Star James Harden has joined the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo. According to the MLS club, the 2018 NBA MVP with the Houston Rockets becomes the fifth member of an ownership group led by Gabriel Brener, which also includes boxing icon Oscar De La Hoya, Ben Guill and Jake Silverstein.

In addition to the Dynamo, the group also owns the NWSL's Houston Dash and BBVA Stadium, the home venue for both clubs.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash and proud to be a part of a club with tremendous history and a great future,” Harden said via the team.

ESPN also said it would provide comprehensive coverage of the opening week of the 2019 NFL training camps beginning July 22 on daily editions of SportsCenter and NFL Live.

• NBC’s Golf Channel unveiled details for its next Golf Films project, “Tiger Woods: Chasing History,” to premiere July 22  The film will present viewers with a chronological look at the “sights and sounds from each of Woods’ 81 professional victories, from his first at the Las Vegas Invitational in 1996, through the most recent win at the Masters earlier this year.”

Patrick Mahomes Goes From Madden Game-Player To Cover Of Madden NFL 20

April 25, 2019: There are a lot of “it” moments during the NFL offseason, and the unveiling of the cover athlete for EA Sports’ NFL Madden is certainly one of them.

Welcome to the Madden cover club, Patrick Mahomes II, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, who was named cover athlete for Madden NFL 20 and said it brings him full circle because he “played Madden with my dad when I was a kid.”

Coming off an All-Pro and MVP season in which he led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and into the AFC championship game for the first time since 1993, Mahomes is the youngest player (23) to win NFL MVP honors since Dan Marino in 1984 and is the first Chief to earn the cover, according to EA Sports.

Mahomes is already having an all-pro marketing off-season.

in addition to the Madden cover, Mahomes is part of a new campaign from Oakley (along with Aaron Judge and other sports stars) and has done work for such marketing partners as adidas and Hunt’s Ketchup.

Mahomes, coming off a sophomore season in which he passed for 50 TDs and 5,381 yards, is No. 5 on the list of best-selling NFL merchandise from this past season, according to the NFL Players Assn.

That includes the third best-selling Nike jersey.

EA Sports unveiled the cover with a multi-platform campaign, including a promo spot, “Face of the Franchise ft. Patrick Mahomes,” digital and social media.

“The last year has been life-changing for me and landing the cover of Madden NFL 20 is both a huge honor and a dream come true as a lifelong Madden fan,” Mahomes said via EA Sports.

“I played Madden with my dad when I was a kid, and this is definitely a full-circle moment for me.”

In addition to the cover, Mahomes “inspired and contributed to the development” of Face of the Franchise: QB1.

The “new and personalized career campaign in Madden NFL 20 allows fans to create their own college quarterback to play through the College Football National Championship playoff, the NFL Combine, the NFL Draft and a career as a starting quarterback for an NFL team, according to EA Sports.

“To also get the opportunity to impact the experience in the new Face of the Franchise: QB1 by providing input on the gameplay is something I never expected,” said Mahomes.

This year, EA Sports said that Madden NFL 20 would also have an “Urban Symphony.”

It was described as a “soundtrack that highlights pop culture, hip-hop music and urban lifestyle trends, while mixing in traditional musical elements of the sport (i.e. marching bands) to create an original soundtrack that truly delivers on the emotion, history and meaning of football.”

Also new to Madden NFL 20 is Superstar X-Factor, which “brings the stars of the NFL to life as they demonstrate the unique abilities that make them the best in the game.”

“The last year has been life-changing for me and landing the cover of Madden NFL 20 is both a huge honor and a dream come true."

According to Seann Graddy, executive producer for Madden NFL 20, “The team this year wanted to ensure that the superstars of the NFL responded and played differently in all aspects in Madden, just as they do on the field every Sunday – we wanted to make sure the stars felt like stars.

EA Sports said people can also expect “new player celebrations, run/pass option (RPO) plays and unique playbooks.”

Madden NFL 20 is now available for pre-order and will be released worldwide on Aug. 2 for Xbox One, PlayStation4 and Origin for PC.
