• The Cleveland Browns have been named as the team to be featured in HBO’s 2018 series Hard Knocks. The Browns were 0-16 last season and then selected QB Baker Mayfield with the overall No. 1 pick. This year’s series is schedule to debut Aug. 7.

• The Alliance of American Football named Alliance Salt Lake City as its fourth market (Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando) and Dennis Erickson as the team’s head coach. Mariano Rivera Walks Comfortably Into His New Role As Pitchman For OrthoLite

September 29, 2016: Arguably regarded as the best relief pitcher of all time, Mariano Rivera is now seeking to turn into a highly regarded spokesperson in his post-MLB career.

Rivera has signed a deal with OrthoLite, a leading provider of comfort and performance insoles, in which Rivera will be an official brand ambassador for the company and would “collaborate with the brand on a variety of initiatives, including supporting the Mariano Rivera Foundation.”

Financial terms for the year-long partnership were not released.

Earlier this year, OrthoLite became the cfficial insole of the New York Yankees, for whom Rivera pitched from 1995-2013, saved an MLB record 652 games and was a member of five World Series championships.

“Mo has a special place in the hearts of baseball fans worldwide and we’re thrilled to work with him and support his inspiring Mariano Rivera Foundation,” Glenn Barrett, CEO for Amherst, Mass.-based OrthoLite, said in a statement. “His commitment to performance on the field and beyond makes him the perfect fit to serve as our new brand ambassador for athletes and fans alike.

“We look forward to this partnership that brings together the industry’s leading insole with one of the best players in the MLB,” said Barrett.

Marketing details were not shared but are expected to include print, Internet and social media.

The deal was accompanied by a photo of Rivera on the mound during his playing days with the Yankees, with the text, “OrthoLite: Official Insole of Mariano Rivera.”

Among his deals, Rivera previously appeared in marketing for Skechers Relaxed Fit.

According to Rivera, “Throughout my pitching career, I’ve experienced first-hand the importance of having proper footwear to perform at my best during training and during a game on the mound. I’m excited to team up with OrthoLite, a brand that provides the ultimate in comfort and performance for athletes of all ages.”

OrthoLite has alliances that include Nike, ASICS, Clarks, New Balance, Merrell, Puma, Vans and Timberland.
