Chew On This: Snickers Has Super Bowl XLV Mojo Working With Sweet Campaign

August 16, 2010: The 2010 NFL season does not begin until Sept. 9 when the defending Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints host the Minnesota Vikings. But Snickers already has its Super Bowl XLV mojo working.

The Mars Chocolate North America brand, which generated a lot of publicity and work with a TV spot starring Betty White that aired during the last Super Bowl, is revving up a campaign that will culminate in Texas, the home site of the next title game. "Go Nuts At The Super Bowl with Snickers Instant Win Game" will award 17 grand prizes of a trip to Cowboys Stadium. Snickers said it would also give away thousands of other items, including 42" flat screen TVs, $500 Visa gift cards, $75 gift certificates to NFLShop.com and Snickers bars.

Now through Dec. 16, consumers can enter the "Go Nuts" sweepstakes at www.Snickers.com or via text messaging. (Full details here.)

Snickers has not confirmed its advertising plans for Super Bowl XLV, which will air on Fox on Feb. 6. This is Mars' second sweepstakes in conjunction with Super Bowl XLV: An effort that activated around Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, which featured former NFL QB Jim Kelly in marketing, "Be On The Field," involved several Mars' brands and also dangled a trip to Texas for the big game.
