Mike Tyson Back In The Ring With RockLive's 'Main Event'

March 29, 2011: Mike Tyson has had one of the "Rocky-est" careers in the history of sports. Once on top of not only the boxing but mass media world, Tyson's demons —many of them self-induced — caused him to have an explosive fall from grace.

Tyson has been working his way back into a more positive spotlight in recent years. Now, in an alliance with RockLive, he is working his way onto computers and mobile devices.

Mike Tyson - Main Event, an interactive boxing game featuring Tyson and a group of fighters from around the world, is now available in the iTunes App Store. According to RockLive, Mike Tyson - Main Event lets players "punch their way through multiple rounds as the underdog in a pound-for-pound boxing competition en route to the 'main event,' – boxing against the former undisputed heavy weight champion of the world, Mike Tyson."

"The goal with all of our applications and games is to excite users by offering them a unique and entertaining way to connect with their favorite athletes, celebrities and personalities in a relevant and lasting way," John Shahidi, CEO of RockLive (formerly Rock Software) said in a statement. "Mike Tyson is an international icon in the boxing world and beyond; therefore it's only natural for RockLive to work with Mike to further connect with his fans – young and old alike."

"The goal of our applications and games is to excite users by offering them a unique and entertaining way to connect with their favorite athletes, celebrities and personalities."

Among other endeavors that have helped Tyson to put some distance between his troubled past and his new lifestyle is Animal Planet's current Taking On Tyson, a six-part series that follows the former world's heavyweight boxing champion as he trains racing pigeons. Tyson played himself to positive reviews in the acclaimed 2009 flick, The Hangover. He also earned positive reviews for opening up about the demons in his life in the 2008 documentary, Tyson, from James Tobak. He even received pubic condolences in 2009 when his daughter, Exodus, died from injuries suffered in an accident at home.

Main Event follows the November 2010 launch of RockLive game Mad Chad featuring NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. RockLive said that upcoming games would feature NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, boxer Floyd Mayweather and musician 50 Cent. RockLive also provides the eclectic app RunPee, a utility that tells users when to use the restroom during a movie and provides story line updates.
