September 18, 2009: A lot of people watch football. Not many get to watch football with former NFL greats sitting next to them on the couch. Miller Lite has launched a promo that enables consumers of legal drinking age to bid on visits from such stars as Jerome Bettis, Tony Dorsett, Richard Dent, John Randle and Antonio Freeman.
Now through December, Miller Lite will be holding week-long auctions at eBay offering a pair of former NFL players each for four games. The players will provide all the food and refreshments while reliving some of the greatest moments from their careers. All proceeds from winning bids will go to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The games and players up for bid are Sept. 28, Carolina @ Dallas with Wesley Walls and Tony Dorsett; Nov. 1, Minnesota @ Green Bay with John Randle and Antonio Freeman; Nov. 22, Philadelpha at Chicago with Keith Byars and Richard Dent; and Dec. 10, Pittsburgh @ Cleveland with Jerome Bettis and Eric Metcalf.
"This fall, Miller Lite is helping consumers 'taste greatness' through these memorable football auctions," Grant Leech, Miller Lite vp-marketing, said in a statement. "Giving consumers a chance to have these former football greats in their home to watch a game will provide numerous great moments for the winning bidder and their friends. And as an added bonus, they know they're helping a great cause in The V Foundation."
