Globe Ball Warming: MLB Names Texas Rangers As Host For 2024 All-Star Game

Now, Dallas-Ft. Worth has something about which to brag.
The Texas Rangers today were named as hosts for MLB’s 2024 All-Star Game, scheduled for July 16, 2024 in Globe Life Field, when dozens of MLB stars will be coming to the Lone Star State.
The Rangers last hosted the All-Star Game in 1995 at The Ballpark in Arlington.
However, the franchise itself has hosted four MLB All-Star Games when they played in Washington DC as the Senators (1937, 1956 Griffith Stadium; 1962 D.C. Stadium; 1969 RFK Stadium).
The team’s early marketing has the tag line “Just Like ’95. Only cooler,’” referencing Globe Life Field, which opened in 2020.
"Major League Baseball is pleased to award the 2024 All-Star Game to the Rangers and the cities of Arlington and Fort Worth, which presented a robust bid for All-Star Week," commissioner Rob Manfred said during a media conference in MLB headquarters in New York.
The 2023 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Seattle Mariners in T-Mobile Park. The 2026 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Philadelphia Phillies in Citizens Bank Park.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game has not yet been awarded.
In making the decision, Manfred cited the team and stadium in aiding MLB in 2020 when, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Rangers and Globe Life Field hosted the NLCS and the entire World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays, making it the first MLB venue to host a World Series without its home team playing in the jewel event.
“The Rangers stepped up under difficult circumstances and Globe Life Field served as terrific host for the 2020 post-season, including the World Series,” said Manfred. “We are excited to once again feature baseball’s newest ballpark on a global stage next summer."
According to Ray Davis, Rangers majority owner and managing partner via the team, “The Texas Rangers are honored to be awarded the 2024 All-Star Game.
“With the opening of Globe Life Field in 2020 and the incredible development that continues to take place around the park, Arlington is an ideal location to host Major League Baseball and the Midsummer Classic.”
Globe Life and Accident Insurance Co. owns naming rights for the venue through 2048.
“We are honored to be selected by MLB to host the All-Star Game once again,” Arlington mayor Jim Ross said via the team.
“We look forward to welcoming the most talented baseball players to show off their skills in one of the best stadiums in the country. Globe Life Field and Arlington’s Entertainment District are ready to put on a spectacular 2024 All-Star Week for baseball fans from all over the world.”
