• Manchester United has signed a multi-year deal with Marriott International, with multi-platform marketing including access to on-field & player experiences for 120M members of the Marriott BonVoy travel program.

• PepsiCo is acquiring the CytoSport supplements brand from Hormel, which includes the Muscle Milk line.

• MLS Los Angeles Galaxy has signed a deal naming Mescal El Silencio, a specially crafted mezcal label based in Los Angeles, as an official partner for the team and its venue, Dignity Health Sports Park. The alliance, being called the first mescal deal for a pro sports team, includes a Mezcaleria El Silencio bar on the main concourse.

• MLS FC Dallas has signed a pact naming Heineken as the official import beer for the club and Toyota Stadium. The alliance also make Heineken USA a founding partner for the National Soccer Hall of Fame, which recently opened in Toyota Stadium.

• Lisa Borders, who in October resigned from her position as president for the WNBA to become president and CEO for Time’s Up, has now resigned from that position, citing family situations.

MLB, MLB TV Unveil Multi-Media Marketing Support For Hispanic Heritage Month

MLB has been and will continue to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month in September with events and efforts to spotlight the contributions to baseball by Hispanic and Latino players.

The campaign is an extension of the league’s “Ponle Acento” (“Put an accent on it”), launched in 2016.

MLB will debut a TV spot this weekend with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Enrique "Kiké" Hernández, "Ponle Acento: Herencia Hispana," which follows the step-by-step journey a “Ponle Acento” accented jersey takes from conception to utilization on the field.

The spot is complemented by short animated films on social media highlighting both the history and heritage of Hispanic contributions to MLB and the impact of past and present players on the game.

The spot will air nationally on Fox, FS1, ESPN, TBS, MLBN, ESPN Deportes and Fox Deportes, as well as on MLB digital and social assets.

A Spanish version will air on CNN En Español, ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes and LasMayores.com, MLB’s official Spanish-language Web site.MLB said that, to date, more than 170 MLB players and coaches have changed their name presentation to include diacritics (e.g. accent, tilde, etc.) as a result of the efforts of the #PonleAcento campaign.

MLB said that on Opening Day 2018, 258 players — almost 30% of the league — were of Latino descent.

MLB Network said it would produce several new vignettes to air on the network and on its social media platforms throughout the month, each focusing on current Hispanic MLB players.

Those being featured include Ronald Acuña Jr., José Altuve, Miguel Andújar, Javier Báez, Johan Camargo, Maikel Franco, Francisco Lindor, Yasiel Puig and José Ramirez.

MLB said that all of its teams have developed both Spanish-Language Facebook and Twitter accounts to further engage Hispanic and Latino audiences.

MLB.com, Las Mayores and all of MLB’s Spanish-Language platforms will celebrate the contributions of Hispanic and Latino players past and present putting special emphasis during Hispanic Heritage Month.

MLB has also debuted media platforms designed to provide real-time, quality content to the Spanish-speaking Hispanic and Latino audience, including @Corte4 and Corte4.com — the Spanish-Language counterparts of "Cut4."

All MLB teams are celebrating Hispanic and Latino culture through a series of in-park activities throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.

Activations include pregame ceremonies, theme nights at ballparks, alternate uniforms, unique food options and wearing “Ponle Acento” BP shirts on a date of their club’s choice in the month of September,

MLB Hispanic Heritage Month T-shirts and other items are available at the league’s online shopping Web site as well as at individual team Web sites.
