MLB Opening Day ‘Hype Is Real’ Anthem Driven By Judge, Stanton, Jaden Smith

March 22, 2018: On March 29, for the first time since 1968, every MLB team will be in action on the opening day of the season.

But you can catch many of baseball’s top talents in action now in MLB’s new Opening Day anthem spot.

Opening Day 2018: The Hype Is Real," shows high-power action from 2017 as a prelude to what it coming in 2018.

Sluggers hit home runs, pitchers throw heat and infieldes and outfielders make defensive gems.

The action is interspersed with stylized studio shots of such players as new New York Yankees teammates Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge as well as members of the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.

The spot takes a different tact than traditional MLB spots as it all plays out to the driving rap beat of Jaden Smith’s “Icon,” off his debut release, Syre.

The extended two-minute spot and shorter variations will play across MLB media partners as part of a larger multi-platform campaign ramping up to Opening Day.

Creative was overseen in-house.

In addition to Stanton and Judge, the full spot includes such players as Dallas Keutchel, George Springer, Kris Bryant, Yoenis Cespedes Cody Bellinger, Nolan Arenado, Robinson Cano, Josh Donaldson Bryce Harper, Bobby Abreu Buster Posey, José Altuve, Charlie Blackmon, Miguel Cabrera, Khris Davis, Yadier Molina,  

Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, has been amassing his own audience. He has 7.56 million followers on Twitter and more than 10.3 million of Facebook.

Included among the “Icon” lyrics in the new MLB spot:

"What you call an icon livin'?
Start a record label MSFTS just did it (woo)
Nylon cover, five minutes, whoa
We up too hot in the business (woo)
'Bout to make a movie independent (woo)
Need new trucks, Independent (woo)
