Nascar Builds Media Arsenal With Showtime Alliance

December 8, 2009: Nascar has signed a deal with Showtime Sports to produce and televise Inside Nascar, a weekly highlights and analysis show dedicated to auto racing. The show will premiere on Feb. 10, 2010, Showtime immediately following the season finale of Inside The NFL. Nascar's 2010 season officially begins Feb. 14 with the Daytona 500.

Nascar said the show would consist of 38 one-hour episodes to coincide with the Nascar Sprint Cup Series’ 38-week season. The series will be produced in conjunction with Nascar Media Group and will be taped at the new production facility at the Nascar Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. The host and analysts for Inside Nascar are still to be announced.

Inside Nascar will feature narrated highlights and in-depth analysis from each week’s Nascar Sprint Cup Series race, exclusive audio and video of unique aspects of race week and in-depth feature stories, plus forecasts on upcoming races and opinions on the racing circuit. Showtime Networks is a wholly owned subsidiary of CBS Corp.

“Nascar is one of the most powerful sports brands in the country,” Ken Hershman, svp and General Manager for Showtime Sports, said in a statement. "Given the level of access to drivers, tracks and teams afforded by Nascar, we can offer something truly unique to both hard core and casual race fans. We’ll take viewers into new areas of the sport, into the hearts and minds of the world class drivers and teams, and give them inside access to stock car racing and Nascar like never before.”
