April 12, 2014: Just in time for the start of the 2014 season, Seiko has signed a deal to become the official timekeeper of the North American Soccer League and each of the leagues ten clubs.
Financial terms were not revealed.
The alliance began this past weekend during the NASL kickoff games.
"We are delighted to welcome such a globally recognized brand as Seiko as an official timekeeper of the NASL for 2014," NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson said in a statement. "Seiko has partnered with prestigious sporting brands including FC Barcelona and we are honored to be in such illustrious company."
Under terms of the deal, Seiko branding will be "prominent on the fourth official's substitution and timing boards, on goal line advertising boards, on the broadcast game clock and within the league's official website NASL.com," according to the league.
Other NASL league partners include Voit and Perform.
The NASL also said that ESPN3 would air upward of 27 Games of the Week throughout the season, with the potential to reach more than 92 million households.
In addition to Barcelona, Seiko's sports-related alliances include deals with Novak Djokovic, track and field governing body International Association of Athletics Federations and in sailing The 49er and 29erXX Associations.
