NBA: Harden Trade From Nets To Sixers Drives Jersey, Team Merchandise Sales

April 22, 2022: The Los Angeles Lakers may have finished the 2021-22 season out of the playoffs with a 33-49 record, but that hasn’t stopped the team from winning in the NBA sales race.
The NBA and National Basketball Players Assn. said that that LeBron James finished with the league’s most popular jersey and the Los Angeles Lakers had the most popular team merchandise based on NBAStore.com sales for the second half of the 2021-22 regular season: Jan. 13 through April 10.
James and the Lakers have held the No. 1 spots since figures released at the end of the 2018-19 season showed James having the best-selling jersey in his first season with the Lakers and the Lakers with the No. 1 most-popular team merchandise.
Sales figures were not disclosed.
James Harden, who was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 10, was No. 2 in jersey sales after having not been among the Top 15 during the first half of the season.
The Top Five also includes 3. Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), 4. Kevin Durant (Nets) and 5. Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).
The Sixers were No. 2 among team merchandise sales, led by Harden and Joel Embiid.
The Top Five among team merchandise sales also includes 3. Golden State Warriors 4. Chicago Bulls and 5. Brooklyn Nets.
