NBA Signs Deal With Bombo To Build Home Entertainment Category

April 20, 2010: The NBA has signed a multi-year deal naming Bombo Sports & Entertainment as the league's official home video provider. Bombo will have the rights to produce and distribute original NBA home video titles as well as release archived NBA games and NBA Entertainment (NBAE) catalogue content.

Financial terms were not disclosed. This is the first official league licensing agreement for Bombo, which was founded in 1999.

In conjunction with NBAE, Bombo will produce videos featuring behind-the-scenes material, bloopers and documentaries, as well as boxed sets of past games focusing on rivalries, anniversaries and championships, among others. NBAE said it would continue to produce the annual NBA championship DVD, which will debut in July 2010.

“Bombo is a great complement to the award-winning productions from NBA Entertainment. They bring a unique perspective to our greatest moments from yesterday and today,” Vicky Picca, NBA svp-licensing and business affairs, said in a statement.

The New York-based company has produced and distributed more than 40 sports films and television documentaries in North America, Europe and Asia, including content featuring the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chelsea and Manchester United Soccer clubs, Philadelphia Eagles, and such athletes as Shaun White,  Andre Agassi and Shaquille O’Neal.

According to Bob Potter, CEO of Bombo, “Bombo intends to bring the full weight of its experience creating high quality documentaries for national and regional releases to its relationship with the NBA.  We look forward to developing and using innovative marketing strategies to deliver the Finals video, complete games series and other NBA programming to the league’s fans."
