D-Howard, Chandler, Curry, Play Around On Disney XD's 'Pranksgiving' Programming

By Barry Janoff

November 4, 2013: Dwight Howard, Tyson Chandler, Stephen Curry, Kenneth Faried and DeAndre Jordan are among the NBA players who will join with Disney for a month of "Pranksgiving," in which they appear on Disney XD shows for "comedic and unpredictable" results.

Howard stars tonight (Nov. 4) on Mighty Med in an episode entitled "Pranks for Nothing." The Houston Rockets center plays The Great Defender, described as a "superhero with the ability to create a defensive shield and make [evil] powers rebound off of him."

Chandler (New York Knicks), Curry (Golden State Warriors), Faried (Denver Nuggets) and Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers) will appear on Pranksgiving, a special show that will air throughout this month. In it, the players join with Crash (the puppet from the sitcom Crash & Bernstein) to set harmless pranks on young stars from other Disney shows.

Disney has been supporting with TV, Internet and social media including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

A TV spot shows an array of actors and actresses from Disney shows getting ready to play a game of hoops against friends of Crash, who turn out to be the NBA players. Among the pranks: A phony basketball filled with purple goo. (See the full spot here.)

"Getting to be a part of Disney XD's 'Pranksgiving' allowed me, and the other players, to connect with kids and families in a different way and show them a side of us they don't usually see," Curry said in a statement. "I love to do fun things like this with fans and giving back to the community is something I'm committed to."

According to Curry, "I also loved that my family got to be there with me when we shot it, and when my daughter gets older and is watching Disney XD, I can tell her all about it."
