September 22, 2020: Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown his skills on the basketball court.
Now he is showing some skills in acting.
In a new multi-media campaign from consumer electronics brand TCL, “Enjoy More,” Antetokounmpo gets to play several roles, including a cowboy, video game warrior, stand-up comic and a baker on a competition reality show.
His brother, Thanasis, also stars.
The theme of the campaign: “TCL customers can enjoy endless entertainment from the comfort of their own home.”
"I am excited to continue my partnership with TCL and had fun showing off my acting skills alongside my brother, Thanasis, in their new commercial," Antetokounmpo said via the company.
"I love that TCL TVs make premium technology accessible — allowing my fans to enjoy more of the things they love. Whether it is watching a basketball game, a stand-up comedy special, or a baking show, it is easier to find your favorites and they look better on a TCL TV."
Giannis, who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks and was also named NBA Defensive Player of the Year, has deals that include Nike, Hulu, T-Mobile, Ready Nutrition (in which he also has an investment stake) and 2K. He earns about $28 million from endorsements, according to Forbes.
In the spot, Giannis is watching basketball on his TCL big-screen when his brother comes in.
“Is this the new TV you’ve been bragging about?”
“Check this out,” say Giannis. “The picture on my TCL TV is so good, it feels like I’m in every show.”
He then flips through the channels, finding himself in a western showdown, on-stage at the Milwaukee Laff Haus (“So what’s the deal with mascot?” he asks as the audience laughs and applauds), as a video game solider in Warzone and baking a cake in the shape of a basketball hoop and ball.
”I never knew you had so much range,” says Thanasis.
“Big bro, I’m telling you, it’s the TV.”
Support includes digital and social media.
"TCL is devoted to bringing joy and excitement to customer's homes, and with the significant enhancements made to our newly launched 5-Series and award-winning 6-Series, we will continue to deliver on that promise," Chris Larson, svp for TCL, said via the company.
"Giannis' commitment to excellence on the court inspires us all and I enjoyed watching his season in stunning contrast and clarity with an unmatched viewing experience that only a Mini-LED powered TCL TV can provide."
