• The Professional Baseball Agreement between MLB and minor league teams expires at the end of the 2020 season. • Showtime Sports will launch on Oct. 21 a weekly podcast, All The Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, in which the two NBA veterans (now retired) and NBA champs (Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs, respectively), will “deliver an authentic, unfiltered perspective on the most polarizing topics in and around the game of basketball.”  It will air Thursdays on the Showtime Basketball YouTube Channel.  

• Bluberi Gaming has signed a deal with WWE to develop a series of licensed slot games featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Among those to be featured include John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Ronda Rousey. The first WWE series of slot games is scheduled to hit casinos October 2020.

• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts.” A publication date was not given.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here.

Sixers, Devils Chip In With Caesars Entertainment For Sports Betting Activation

October 30, 2018: In July, the NBA signed a deal naming MGM Resorts International its official gaming partner.

On Monday, the NHL followed suit, also naming MGM Resorts International as an official betting partner.

Now, individual teams are making their own alliances in the burgeoning sports betting category.

Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment said it has signed a multi-year partnership with Caesars Entertainment for alliances with its properties the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center.

“The partnership will introduce New Jersey sports fans to Caesars Entertainment’s new sports book experience now available at two of its Atlantic City properties and The Caesars Casino & Sports app through special promotions and activations inside the exclusive Caesars Club at Prudential Center,” according to both sides.

On Oct. 19, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, a joint venture of Caesars Entertainment and JACK Entertainment, signed an official partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, allowing Horseshoe to use the team’s logos and trademarks at the gaming venue, with customer loyalty cards displaying its new NFL links to come.

The Vegas Golden Knights in September signed an alliance with sports book operator William Hill, the first NHL team to ink such a deal. William Hill added the Devils as a partner last week.

In September, the Dallas Cowboys became the first NFL team with a casino deal, signing a multi-year pact naming WinStar World Casino and Resort as the official casino of the team.

According to a new report from American Gaming Assn., the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL could realize a combined $4.2 billion annually not just from legal, regulated sports betting, but from such related platforms as increased consumption of the leagues' products, revenue as a result of spending by betting operators and data providers, advertising, sponsorship revenue and data.

In Prudential Center, Caesars Entertainment said it would open a 5,000-square-foot premium restaurant and bar on the main concourse (rendition above).

Caesars said it would provide signature VIP hospitality to Premium Seat members for all Devils home games and would also be open to all event attendees during more than 175 live events, games and concerts held in the venue.

“Caesars Entertainment has enjoyed a long relationship with the New Jersey community,” Chris Holdren, CMO for Caesars Entertainment, said via the company.

“With the introduction of the Caesars Club Sports Lounge, we’re excited to expand our relationship and deliver our world-class hospitality and entertainment in a new part of the Garden State.”

Caesars Entertainment will get exposure on Prudential Center’s 80 digital boards and 4,800-square-foot outdoor LED board.

Caesars’ branding will also appear on Club Level tickets, premium wristbands, concourse pillars and elsewhere.

During ten regular-season Devils’ games, people in attendance will have the chance to win $1 million in a Caesars-branded “Shoot for a Million” on-ice promotion during the second-period break.

In addition, Caesars will have a presence at 76ers games through ad placements.

Caesars said it would promote Harrah’s Philadelphia and two of its other signature brands to 76ers’ regional and international fan bases.

"Caesars Entertainment can connect with fans to promote its new sports book and mobile sports betting app throughout the Garden State.”

Via a “Score for the Shore” in-game on-court promotion and a “Live Like a Caesars VIP” Sixers social media contest, people will have the opportunity to win a complimentary stay at Caesars Atlantic City Hotel & Casino or an all-expense paid weekend getaway to The LINQ Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, respectively.

According to Adam Davis, HBSE CRO, “With a partnership that synergistically bookends the state of New Jersey, Caesars Entertainment can connect with engaged sports and live event fans to promote its new sports book and mobile sports betting app throughout the Garden State.”

The Caesars Casino & Sports app is available through the App Store and on the Caesars Web site for Android users.

People can access the mobile app in the state of New Jersey. People can also place bets inside the new sports books at Caesars Entertainment properties in Atlantic City.
