• HarperCollins Publishers said it has acquired world rights to Back, the first memoir authored by Tiger Woods. According to Woods, “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts. It describes how I feel and what’s happened in my life.” A publication date was not given.

• Turner Sports’ eLeague has signed a deal with tech solutions and services provider CDW to “create enhanced fan experiences across eLeague’s properties on television, digital, social and in-arena.” The alliance also names CDW an “official arena partner” for eLeague and the Rocket League Championship Series. • San Manuel Casino, under the auspices of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, has signed a deal to become a Founding Partner for Allegiant Stadium, scheduled to open at the home of the Raiders for the 2020 NFL season when the franchise relocates from Oakland to Las Vegas.

• The XFL has named David Michael as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Michael was most recently chief information officer for The Madison Square Garden Company and previously was with GroupM North America, UBM Tech and PR Newswire.

• Halloween this year is Oct. 31, and retailers, marketers and consumers are ready for another season of trick-or-treat. Total spend on Halloween 2019 is expected to reach $8.8 billion according to the National Retail Federation, Washington, DC. Full story here.

LeBron James Set To Lead L.A. Lakers Vs. Brooklyn Nets In NBA '19 China Games

The NBA has named the two teams that will appear in a pair of pre-season NBA China Games 2019 Presented by Vivo, but it will be the presence of one player who will have the biggest impact: LeBron James.

NBA China Games 2019 will feature the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. The Games are scheduled for Oct. 10 in Shanghai and Oct. 12 in Shenzhen.
 
This would be the Lakers’ second trip to China following their visit in 2013.

The Nets will be playing in China for the third time (2010, 2014).

James has also made numerous trips to China for Nike Basketball.

China-based telecom company Vivo in December extended its alliance with the NBA, which began in 2016, to remain presenting partner for the China Games thru 2020.

The NBA China Games 2019 will be the NBA’s 27th and 28th games in China, with 17 NBA teams having played games in Beijing, Guangzhou, Macao, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei since 2004.

The NBA said it would play its first games in India, also scheduled for the pre-season in October, a two-game series in NSCI Dome between the Indiana Pacers and the Sacramento Kings,

The NBA’s entity that conducts all of the league’s businesses in China was formed in January 2008.
 
The NBA China Games 2019 are presented by Vivo, promoted and produced by iRENA and co-produced by AEG Presents.

The games will be available in more than 200 countries and territories on television, digital and social media. 

The NBA China Games 2019 will feature a variety of fan activities.

Highlighting the events will be the eighth annual NBA Fan Day Presented by Dongfeng Nissan in Shanghai.

People will have the opportunity to watch a performance by Chinese celebrities and watch the Lakers and the Nets participate in on-court drills and team with celebrities and players from the two teams to compete in shooting contests.

The NBA Fan Day will be broadcast live and streamed through NBA China’s media partner platforms.  In addition to the NBA Fan Day, the league and its partners will conduct a series of NBA Cares community outreach activities in Shanghai and Shenzhen.

According to  Derek Chang, NBA China CEO, “These games are the pillars of our efforts to bring authentic NBA action to our Chinese fans.

“I want to thank the cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen for their support and commitment to help us grow the game and promote an active and healthy lifestyle in China.”
