• The Cleveland Browns have been named as the team to be featured in HBO’s 2018 series Hard Knocks. The Browns were 0-16 last season and then selected QB Baker Mayfield with the overall No. 1 pick. This year’s series is schedule to debut Aug. 7.

• The Alliance of American Football named Alliance Salt Lake City as its fourth market (Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando) and Dennis Erickson as the team’s head coach. Alliance Salt Lake home games will be played at Rice-Eccles Stadium, home to University of Utah football. Phoenix is expected to be named the fifth city today.

• For the third year, NFL partner Hyundai is hosting the Hyundai Youth Football Camp giving children ages 7 to 13 the chance to take the field and learn from their favorite teams and players. NBC Ups The Ante For Super Bowl XLIX With Social Media-Driven Consumer Promo

December 21, 2014: NBC not only wants you to watch its broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX this February, it wants to send some people to the Big Game in the University of Phoenix Stadium on Feb. 1.

NBC Sports has launched a Super Bowl Fan Challenge as part of its multi-platform promotion leading up to the game, which will see two fans head to the event on the media company's tab.

The Fan Challenge is loaded with social media support, including Twitter and Instagram, offering weekly prizes in addition to the grand prize package. The promotion runs now through Jan. 6, 2015. (Details here.)

According to NBC Sports, people can answer polls and trivia questions, share videos and articles on Twitter; and complete activities using specific hashtags on Twitter and Instagram in order to accumulate points.

Additional poll and trivia questions will be revealed after halftime of NBC’s Sunday Night Football games.

Three prize winners will be selected at the end of each week. Prizes include a pair of Bose Noise Canceling Headphones, an Xbox bundle with EA Sports Madden NFL 15 and a Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

The grand prize winner will be announced following the conclusion of the contest, which runs through Jan. 6, 2015.

NBC Sports' overall campaign includes TV, print, Internet, social media and other activations that will ramp up through the playoffs and then week prior to the game.

A Super Bowl promo spot released earlier this month shows viewers highlights of past Super Bowls as a voiceover offers, "Here's to the originals and the repeats. The unexpected and the guaranteed. Here's to the madness, genius and perfection. Here's to the Big Game. The history. The heartache. And the storybook endings. It's the biggest Sunday night of them all. February 1. Super Bowl 49. Only on NBC."
