September 16, 2013: The NBA's Nets, preparing for their second season in Brooklyn, have signed what the team called a "momentous multi-year deal" with SecureWatch24, a firm that maintains technology-based security services, to become the franchise's' presenting sponsor.
Other NBA teams have had presenting sponsorship deals, including the Miami Heat and the Nets when they were based in New Jersey, but team executives said that is the first presenting sponsorship for the Brooklyn Nets.
Industry analysts said that Brett Yormark, the Nets CEO, signed the first such sponsorship deal in the NBA in 2007 when Wrigley was named the Nets off-season presenting sponsor.
Financial terms of the alliance with SW 24 were not disclosed.
Under the deal, SW24’s logo will now be positioned in conjunction with the Brooklyn Nets logo on all team-controlled branding, including inside the Barclays Center venue. SW24 also becomes presenting sponsor of the Nets official Web site as well as the exclusive security partner of the franchise.
When the 2013-14 season begins, the Nets will name following the conclusion of each victory a SW24 Lockdown Defender of the Game. Ultimately the player with the most such distinctions will be named the Nets' SW24 Lockdown Defender of the Year.
The deal coincides with the release of the next phase of the Nets' "Hello Brooklyn" umbrella marketing campaign, "Are You Ready?"
The multi-media effort features Nets players Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett, Brook Lopez and Deron Williams. It includes TV, print and out-of-home in English, Spanish and Russian; as well as Internet and such social media destinations as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+.
The campaign was created in-house. The Nets season home-opener is Nov. 1 against the two-time defending NBA champion Heat.
“We are proud to have formed a major sponsorship alliance with SW24, a leader in its field,” Yormark said in a statement. “SW24 has a tremendous commitment to safety and service, which are our top priorities at the Brooklyn Nets. Everywhere the Nets brand goes, so will SW24. This significant alliance continues our commitment to partner with first-class companies and to bring the best to Brooklyn.”
New York-based SW24 said that it maintains the nation’s largest privately installed network of video surveillance. Desmond Smyth, president for SW24, founded the company after 20 years of service with the NYPD.
Regarding the "Are You Ready?" push, Yormark said, “It’s clear by the strong local and national appeal of our team that fans are excited about Year Two in Brooklyn. We’re proud to be a part of this borough and are looking forward to hearing the Brooklyn chant on our Nov. 1 home opener against the . . . Heat. The Brooklyn Nets are ready. Are you?”
